What happened to the Serpent or Devil?

If you had read until the book of Exodus carefully, you may have noticed, like me, that after Adam came out of the Garden of Eden, the serpent or devil was never mentioned, even until the end of the book of Exodus. The Bible-god never mentioned the devil at all, and he was concerned with human enemies like the Pharoah, the Canaanites, etc. I find that rather strange. And we have also seen that the human enemies did not exactly feared the Bible-god like he was an almighty god. It was more like human warfare. The author clearly missed this point, or maybe the part on the serpent as the devil was added in by some else?

And if I am not wrong, the serpent was never mentioned for the rest of the books in the Old Testament. This major point might be a flaw in the people who put the books together to form the Bible. Of course Christians might argue that the Old Testament is more metaphorical than real.
