The Image of God

I have assumed a God who is without form, omnipresent, and not accessible to us.

But in the Bible, which had been accorded some authority on the subject of God, it is stated that god created Adam in his image. There is thus a conflict between my assumption and what the Bible says. Which means that I cannot agree with the Bible.

If we were created in the image of God, then God must look like us!! That is not quite likely the case. That makes me wonder if the god of the Bible is no more than an advanced race of beings who were into genetics, and who created or produced us in some way, and our image is like theirs. I am quite convinced by the theory proposed by Zechariah Sitchin, that we humans are the product of a very advanced race years ago.
