Money or Serving God?

Today, one of the headlines in Singapore is one employee of The New Creation Church was paid at least S$500,000 for 2009. Money and religion is always a sticky issue, more so when there is a recession, most people earn less than S$50K a year, and these are the people who contribute to the high pay of such 'religious' people. The statement by the church is that this guy is responsible for the growth of the church - I think what the church means is that since the income has gone into millions of dollars, what is $500,000? Sounds very close to what happened to the Kidney Foundation in Singapore a few years ago.

But what I wish to ask is,
1. is church growth due to a person's effort, or is it God's credit?
2. if this guy is not paid so much, will he continue working for the church (or working for God, for that matter)? would he strive so hard to get more money for the church?
3. the church members earn much less per person, and they gave with the belief that the money would be put to good use; is paying one person so much putting the money to good use?,etc.

As I have mentioned in my earlier posts, religion today is just a front for some people to make more money. Look at all the rich leaders of temples, churches, cults, etc. I am of the conviction that a true man seeking God would know deep down in his heart that even if money does come into his life, he would make full use of it for the work of the God he believes in, and not for personal benefits. If he wants money, go into business and stop using the hard-earned money of the church members.

As Jesus has said, beware of wolves in sheep's clothings.

In the 1970s
I was very impressed in those days by the many testimonies of Christian missionaries. The central theme was their sacrifice of life to serve the God they believed in. They had no place to call home and usually had to stay in a member's home wherever they went. One missionary shared that he was so poor that he could not even afford a bra for his wife. Many had to go hungry. These were no useless people who were outcasts of society. On the contrary, many of them were of the calibre to make it good in society if they had joined in the rat race. I was a Christian then. I am no more one as I saw how church after church were more interested in making money, building huge buildings, buying the best sound systems, etc. God is no more to be found.

Jesus also said that there will be many false prophets who will use his name for their personal gains. These people will end in hell.

Perhaps some may be the "wolves" in sheep's clothing. Then again, there are people who truly believes in God, and do things from the bottom of their heart. I always believe that there are such people, the ones who are proud to serve, and with no expectations of having duly rewarded.

Hi there "Maths" =) Recently I was following up a case. An unsolved mystery of a Rape-cum-murder case in Singapore, which took place 9years ago. Perhaps you may know about it, yes, Its the case of Linda Chua. I found a website that SPI were on the case too, using paranormal activities to get in touch with the spirits which may help to solve the mystery. http://www.spi.com.sg/spi_files/bukit_bakot_rape/index.htm

Thats the address. You may want to review it, can share your views and opinions with me? Thanks lots maths =)

It's human nature, we can be too materialistic at times, like I want a lot of money so I can buy cool stuff or live a comfortable life, so it's very understandable why they never refuse such a high pay, I have nothing against anyone even if u are corrupted and cheap.
