Imaginary Happiness

Having studied religions in my search for the true God, I am quite amused that many people show low-mentality symptoms. I just received an email with the following contents:

Before Bro Joseph Wee found the True Light, he was a trainee monk and
fervently sought for truth from his mentor, a Sri Lankan chief monk. He
devoted all his spare time to the service of a temple. The Sri Lankan
chief monk trained him thoroughly as he wanted to appoint him to take over
his role on his return to Sri Lanka. But as Joseph went deeper into the
Buddhist study, he became more empty and desperate for answers. Bring your
Buddhist friends and relatives who are also seeking for the True Light to
listen to this fascinating testimony of Bro Joseph Wee!

It is not peculiar to Christians. Rather, it is evident in every religion. But I should say that Christians are more prone to such bahavior. My question is, does a monk switching belief to Christianity make Christianity any more real or true, and vice versa? Must a true belief be confirmed by such incidents?

I think it is more of a sense of insecurity in one's god and beliefs that would spur a person to such an act.
